Privacy Policy
Unduped doesn’t collect any data.
Your files, file names, and scan results stay on your Mac. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party code that tracks you. The only time the app goes online is to talk to Apple’s App Store when you view the price, buy, or restore Unduped Unlock.
This policy covers the Unduped app for Mac and this website. “We” means Aleksandr Guzenko, the developer of Unduped.
What Unduped does on your Mac
Unduped looks only at the folders and disks you choose, in the Open panel or by dragging them into its window. To find duplicates, it reads file details (names, sizes, dates) and file contents, and compares them. All of this happens on your Mac. Nothing is uploaded.
Unduped doesn’t download files that are stored only in iCloud or another cloud service.
Developer files
Only if you use the Developer section and give it your Home folder in the Open panel, Unduped reads folder names, sizes and dates in your Home folder, including its Library and hidden folders. It also reads a few settings files of developer tools and your projects (such as gradle-wrapper.properties), to tell which versions your projects still use and when a simulator, emulator or archive was last used or uploaded. To leave alone folders that a running tool is using, it looks at which apps and processes are running. Nothing is uploaded, and the list isn’t saved: each scan starts fresh.
Your Photos library
Only if you add Photos Library as a source, Unduped asks for access to your Photos library through macOS. It then reads the details of your photos and videos (dates, sizes and file names) and the originals or previews that are already on your Mac, to find files on your disks that your library already has. It never changes, moves or deletes anything in your library, and it never downloads photos or videos from iCloud. None of this leaves your Mac. You can turn access off at any time in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Photos.
What Unduped stores on your Mac
Unduped keeps a few things on your Mac so it can work. They never leave your Mac.
- The folders and disks you chose, and your Home folder if you gave it to the Developer section, saved as bookmarks so Unduped can find them next time.
- Your settings, such as excluded folders, the minimum file size, and the folders you protect.
- A cleanup journal: for each file or folder moved to the Trash, its original location, its location in the Trash, its size, and the time. Undo needs this to put files back. Unduped keeps the journal for your last 5 cleanups and removes older entries.
- How much free cleanup you have left, saved in your keychain so reinstalling the app doesn’t reset the free limits: 500 MB of duplicates and 5 GB of developer files.
- Your last scan: the duplicate files it found (their names, locations, sizes and dates), which of them are already in your Photos library (as Photos’ own identifiers for those items), and which copies you marked, so the results are still there when you open Unduped again. Each new scan replaces it, and stopping a scan removes it.
Most of this lives in the app’s container, in the Library/Containers folder of your home folder. If you delete Unduped and that container, it’s gone. The free-cleanup entry stays in your keychain; you can remove it in Keychain Access by searching for “Unduped”.
Purchases and the network
Unduped connects to the internet only through Apple’s StoreKit, to show the price of Unduped Unlock, process a purchase, and restore it. Apple handles payment under the Apple Privacy Policy. We don’t receive your name, email address, Apple Account, or payment details.
To confirm your purchase, StoreKit gives Unduped a record signed by Apple, which the app checks on your Mac. We don’t run any servers, so this record never reaches us.
Information Apple shares with developers
Like every App Store developer, we can see reports from Apple in App Store Connect: totals such as downloads and sales by country, and crash reports from people who chose to share analytics with app developers in macOS settings. These reports are anonymous and don’t identify you. You can turn sharing off in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements.
When you contact us
If you email andrroider.app@gmail.com, we receive your email address and whatever you write. When you use Contact Support in the app, the email is pre-filled with your Unduped version and macOS version, and you can edit or delete these before sending. Nothing is sent until you send the email.
We use your message only to reply to you. We don’t share it, sell it, or add you to any mailing list. We delete support emails within 1 year of our last message, or sooner if you ask.
This website
This website is hosted by Vercel. It uses no cookies, no analytics, and no trackers, and loads nothing from other websites. Like any web server, our hosting provider may briefly process your IP address to deliver pages and protect against abuse. We don’t use it to identify or follow you.
Children
Unduped doesn’t collect data from anyone, including children.
Your rights
We don’t hold data about you, except emails you send us. You can ask to see or delete them at any time by writing to andrroider.app@gmail.com. If you live in the EU, the UK, or another region with data protection laws, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update it here and change the effective date. If a change affects what the app does with data, we’ll say so in the app’s release notes before it takes effect.
